Bintan Resort Ferries has a fleet of three vessels. They are named Wan Seri Beni, Wan Sendari and Aria Bupala. The names of the ferries revolve around the close links and ties between Bintan and Singapore dating back to the 13th century.

Wan Sendari was the wife of Sang Nila Utama, the founder of Singapore. One day while out on his travels looking for new city, Sang Nila Utama visited the islands of Bintan which was ruled by Queen Wan Seri Beni.

When news of Sang Nila Utama’s arrival reached the ears of the Queen Wan Seri Beni, she sent her prime minister, Aria Bupala to welcome and invite them to stay on.

With no heir to take over her Kingdom, Wan Seri Beni decided to name Sang Nila Utama as her successor to her kingdom in Bintan. Sang Nila Utama ruled Singapura, the Lion City for 48 years and was buried on Bukit Larangan. (present -day Fort Canning Hill).
